Science

WHAT IS SCIENCE?

The word science has been taken from the Latin word "Scientia," which means knowledge. Thus science is a process of a deeper understanding of the entire universe and its being. Science as a study is an organized arrangement of subject knowledge relating to the natural, physical, and social world.

Science involves research through experimentation, observation, scientific methods, hypotheses, etc., in physics, chemistry, biology, astronomy, geology, mathematics, logical reasoning, etc., to make discoveries and know the origin of any existing phenomenon.

SCIENCE AS EDUCATIONAL STUDY

Science is a versatile field of education for students with different subjects to choose from. However, the essential requirement for any student willing to study science is completing class 12th with either PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics), or PCMB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology & Mathematics).

There are various undergraduate, postgraduate, Ph.D., diploma, certificate courses for students in this field. In addition, students can do multiple specializations such as BSc, MSc, Ph.D. in different branches of science.

Following is the list of various branches of science:

  • Agriculture
  • Biology
  • Biotechnology etc.
  • Chemistry
  • Computer Science
  • Electronics
  • Forensic Science
  • Forestry
  • Geology
  • Home Science
  • Horticulture
  • Mathematics
  • Medical Science
  • Microbiology
  • Nursing
  • Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Physics
  • Zoology
  • Botany
  • Engineering etc.

In addition, there are a variety of different degree programs that fall under these branches of science. Each science department is divided into many categories making it easy for students to choose their area of interest.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The students who want to go for a science degree must have the following qualifications:

Undergraduate

  • The students must have passed their 12th examination having PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics), or PCMB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology & Mathematics) as main subjects.
  • The minimum percentage marks must be at least 50%-60%.
  • For some courses of study, it may also be necessary to clear the specified entrance exams.

Postgraduate

  • The students must have a Bachelor's degree
  • The students must complete their Bachelor's in the subjects that correspond to the same subject area they want to do a Master's.
  • The passing grades must be at least 50% -60%

SCOPE & CAREER PROSPECTS

Most people think that science is only limited to medical school and that is the only field the students can work in, but that's not true. Science offers a bright career prospect to the students as various career opportunities in many industries are available. Also, the Public, Private, and government sectors are open for the degree holders.

We have listed some of the top job profiles for the degree-holders:
