Pharmacy

WHAT IS PHARMACY?

Pharmacy is a clinical science that links medical science with chemistry, including the preparation, manufacture, composition, dispensing, safe disposal, practical application, testing, and control of drugs and medicines.

Pharmacy is not just restricted to the manufacture of medicines. It has grown into a vast profession that allows individuals to work in different medical sectors rather than just pharmacists.

Without a doubt, medicine is one of the most prominent and stable industries in the world. With the accumulation of multiple diseases, it is becoming essential for the medical sector to research and manufacture drugs to help combat these diseases.

PHARMACY RESEARCH & EDUCATION

Pharmacy has been a part of the medical field since ancient times. To make Pharmacy a separate course of education, the Pharmacy Act 1948 was enacted as the first minimum educational qualification for regulating the pharmacy profession through pharmaceutical practice, education, and training by the Government of India, Department of Law, Justice, and Corporate Affairs.

In India, the legal regulations are administered by the PCI (the Pharmacy Council of India) following the Pharmacy Act of 1948 and AICTE (the All India Council for Technical Education) following the AICTE Act of 1987.

Pharmacy as an educational program encompasses the study of drugs or medicine. It helps students gain extensive knowledge of human biology, human anatomy and nervous system, physical chemistry, organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry and biochemistry, physiology, immunology, microbiology, pharmacology, use, and drug manufacturing.

Pharmacy course has a universal aspect; a pharmacy graduate can get a job in any part of the world. Pharmacy is as valuable as any other profession in the medical field. Individuals can help society to a considerable extent by producing drugs and medicine for better treatments.
